MY FIRST Blog...Sort of.
That awkward moment after you had felt super tech-savvy, because:
You created a website.
“BOOM.YEAH! I’M AWESOME!”
Purchased your own domain name..
“Yeah, I’m a bad-ass”
Made your first blog post…
“LOOK AT ME, GUYS! I’M DOIN’ IT!”
Only to realize….
“Wait..what..where did…everything..go…uh oh…”
You deleted your first blog instead of posting it.
<womp womp.>
A full photo documentation of my experience is available in four photos at the bottom of this post.
So, here we go!
Getting back on the horse!
ROUND TWO!
“FIRST” Blog POST
Except not really.
Yesterday I was sitting at my laptop plugging away at work while listening to a TED RADIO HOUR PODCAST for background noise. By the way, if you haven’t listened to this podcast…start listening! Special “Shout out” to Sara Hendershot for passing along the PODCAST on TRUST. The PODCAST is, as Sara would say, “Amazeballs.”
My ears perked-up when I heard a commercial for a website-building company called “Square Space”. Upon traveling to their website, my mind began racing with possible uses for my own website.
(1.) Explain my coaching philosophy to prospective Student-Athletes. I can’t tell you how often I get asked this question. It’s such a necessary question, but I feel as though it is one that should be answered through stories and examples rather than a 20 second sound bite.
(2.) Give me an outlet to share my thoughts on swimming with those who want to hear from me.
(3.) Practice some gratitude for the amazing experiences, places and people which continually surround me.
(4.) Pass along any new knowledge I have. I’m currently thinking this will be in the realm of; leadership, nutrition, performance-recovery, mindfulness and psychology. I’m sure this list will evolve over time. I’m also sure there will be a GAME OF THRONES post here and there.
(5.) Give me a platform to talk about issues dear to my heart such as Restorative Justice, LGBT rights, and “weighing your food” (inside joke.)
Anytime I have gone through a transitional period in my life, I have always done a ton of self-reflecting. In those moments I have found that the universe has a way of helping you through things via someone’s random facebook posts, tweets, Instagram, newspaper editorials etc. If my website can be a vehicle for someone coming to their own personal epiphany; I’ll be a happy dude!
